What happens next

From the moment you press send.

Four steps, and you are only responsible for the first one.

  1. Tell us what you need

    The form below, or a phone call if that is easier. We ask what you need and when. We do not ask for your credit history, and we do not ask you to prove anything.

  2. One of us gets back to you

    Usually the same day. You will be talking to one of our volunteers, not an office. We work out together what would help most, and what paying it back would look like, if anything.

  3. Funds reach you

    Most often within 24 hours, by e-transfer or as a gift card. We can also pay the landlord or the shop directly if you would rather it went there.

  4. Repayment on your own schedule

    Timed to the day your income arrives, split across instalments if that helps, and never a dollar more than you borrowed. If things change, just tell us. The rest becomes a gift and we will not ask about it again.

Questions we're asked most.

Do I have to be a member of any community or mosque?

No. We are a group of Muslim women and that shapes how we work, but we help any mother in Calgary who asks. Nobody is turned away over faith, background or status.

Will you ask for documents, pay stubs or proof?

No. We don't run credit checks, we don't ask for receipts, and we don't ask you to prove your situation. We take you at your word.

What if I can't repay?

Then you don't. Tell us and the balance becomes a gift. There is no interest, no fee and no collections, and it makes no difference to whether we help you again.

Does my immigration status matter?

No. We never ask about it, and it plays no part in any decision we make.

Who will see what I write?

Only the volunteer who calls you. Where a decision needs a second pair of eyes, one other volunteer sees it too. Nobody else. See our privacy note.

Can I ask again later?

Yes. Plenty of the women we work with come back at a different point, and that is what the fund is for.
